libpng crashed
well once again libpng got crashed issue related to the memory usage. about two or three days ago i've upgraded my slackware 12.0 to pre-12.1 (aka -current). i think that was the first major update for -current branch and it provides libpng version 1.2.21. lately patrick upgrading the libpng using version 1.2.22, which had the 1.2.21 bug fixed from http://www.libpng.org/.
after upgrading completed, i got memory dumped for libpng when i'm trying to install GNOME 2.20 using gtk+ version 2.12.x. for first dumping, i've no idea what was going on withmy slackware system. so i carefully looking at the dump report on terminal, and whatta hell!! it was libpng that making those shitt came out on my screen. then using the terminal browser, links, thank God i'm always installing this thing, i'm looking for an answer on the net.
found that on secunia.com. it was not on major (high vulnerable) section. the rate was medium to low. but i think they're wrong for that. they should've placed this issue with highly critical point, at least for me.
heuheuheu anyway guys, you've should immedietly upgrading your libpng to avoiding system crash as the report says that the bug could be exploited with some buggy png image to attacking the system coz it can make running system dumped the memory with root priviledges. at last, thanks to patrick for the update.
